Guidelines for first lessons

Taketutor expects tutors to be professional and attend scheduled lessons on time.

This is especially important for trial lessons with new students. For a new student, it can be disappointing and frustrating when their tutor doesn’t come to the first lesson. Missing a trial lesson isn’t only bad for the individual tutor, it also hurts the reputation of the entire Taketutor tutor community.

What happens when a tutor misses a trial lesson?

If a tutor misses a trial lesson, their student can report that the trial lesson didn't take place to Taketutor. After a report, Taketutor will notify the tutor by email and on their tutor dashboard on Taketutor.com.

Taketutor will also hide that tutor’s profile, so other new students can’t book trial lessons before the tutor is ready to teach them.

While a tutor’s profile is hidden, they aren’t visible to new students in search results.
They can continue teaching current students as usual.

After each missed trial lesson, a tutor’s profile will be hidden for an increasing amount of time. After a tutor misses 5 lessons, they will be permanently blocked from the platform.

Here’s what happens after each missed trial lesson:

1st missed trial: tutor’s profile is hidden for 3 days.
2nd missed trial: tutor’s profile is hidden for 7 days.
3rd missed trial: tutor’s profile is hidden for 14 days.
4th missed trial: tutor’s profile is hidden for 30 days.
5th missed trial: the tutor’s profile is permanently blocked.

What if there was a mistake with a student's report?

If a tutor believes there was a mistake, they should contact Taketutor’s support team to explain the issue. The support team will investigate the case and take action accordingly.

How can tutors avoid missing lessons?

Adjust the booking window to avoid surprise, short-notice bookings
Keep available time slots updated and add time off to the Taketutor calendar
Check the Taketutor calendar and messages often.
If an unexpected event or emergency causes a conflict with a scheduled lesson, ask the student to reschedule, reschedule it yourself, or cancel the lesson if there’s no agreement with the student.
